Better communication between the buyers and the department managers. Many times we were missing certain replenishment items to do our daily tasks.
Advice
This can be a tiring job, but fun at the same time. You have to give each customer 100% no matter what mood you're in.

Meeting the other people. Most of my coworkers were other college students/recent grads.
What I wish was different
It’s very fast-paced and draining work sometimes with little time to re-energize. Sometimes you feel treated like a number.
And help isn’t always timely as you need it to be.

Talk with your coworkers about receiving help and support when you need it

What I liked
I loved being able to interact and explain each product, finding the perfect apparel tailored for someone's taste. Our salary was based on commission, so it was fun being able to sell things.
What I wish was different
Scheduling was a little odd timings, and there was a lot of sales overlap in my section. I wish we had our own time slots to work without overlapping with a coworker and competing for customers to make commission.
Advice
Be friendly and genuine, try not to be too "fake" in your presentation to people. People are drawn to honesty and good energy, and being always present with clients and people you interact will get you noticed. I worked there for a month and became top salesperson!

It's rather competitive due to the commission based pay and I am not naturally an aggressive person when it comes to sales.
Advice
Put yourself out there and try it, it's a fun environment and everyone was very welcoming. Loved the job overall.

Nordstrom as a company is very organized and professional; I was immediately delved into a complex work environment that is truly invested in the spirit of marketing and exceptional customer service.

On weekdays, it could be kind of slow, but it’s out of your control and not the end of the world.

If you’re interested in fashion, business, marketing or communications, working at Nordstrom is great because it’s very easy to continuously work your way up in the business.

What I liked
I like being behind the scenes. Fulfilling orders, walking around the entire store. You get to meet people from different departments. I love not being confined to one work area. You get a first look at the supplies before their sold.
What I wish was different
I wish I started earlier than I did. And as being part of a team that probably works harder than any other department, we should have longer than 30 minutes for a lunch breaks; seeing as though floor workers get an hour.
Advice
If this isn’t your life’s work, enjoy yourself, do your job, and don’t stress over the customers.
