Research Support Assistant - Clinical Research

Applications are currently being invited for a Research Support Assistant position available under the direction of Dr. Russell Tobe at the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) in Orangeburg, NY, and Dr. Vilma Gabbay at NKI and the Psychiatry Research Institute at Montefiore Einstein (PRIME) in Bronx, NY. Projects include innovative MRI-based imaging approaches, investigations of neuroinflammation, and the use of behavioral paradigms to probe reward processing in mood disorders. 

The NKI and PRIME foster a collaborative environment where research assistants join a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to gain excellent clinical and research experience, with the potential for publication. Salary is competitive and benefits include health, vision, and dental. Responsibilities will include any combination of behavioral, neuropsychological and psychiatric assessment, recruitment, data management, data-analysis, neurophysiology, imaging acquisition, and supporting grant submission. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have
  • a strong background in biology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • a broad familiarity with performing neuroimaging and neuropsychological studies
  • prior experience with grant submissions, literature reviews and analyses, and program management and coordination.

DUTIES 
  • Behavioral, neuropsychological, and psychiatric assessment 
  • Recruitment and participant coordination 
  • Data management 
  • MR Imaging, neurophysiology 
  • Vitals, phlebotomy, lab processing 
  • Administration of consent 
  • Collaboration with local clinics and other referral sites 
  • Clinical and research ratings 
  • Grant submission support 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
  • B.A. or B.S. in psychology, neuroscience, biology, social work or other related scientific field with a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 
  • Five-day workweek which may include weekend effort 
  • Must have access to a vehicle and valid driver's license to commute between PRIME and NKI 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication 

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Prior human subject research experience 
  • Prior clinical and/or research experience with mood disorders populations
  • Technical skills are a plus, but not required.
