Sample positions we are looking to fill include:

Green Building Analyst: EPA’s ENERGY STAR Commercial Buildings Program seeks an enthusiastic policy analyst to help EPA increase commercial building energy efficiency and reduce pollution. The candidate selected for this position will advance understanding and improvement of building energy efficiency by: contributing to the development of strategies and metrics; conducting analysis of national survey data; analyzing data entered by building stakeholders in EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager (an online tool used by over 300,000 buildings nationwide) and other data sources. Specific duties will include: proposing and conducting energy, economic, financial, and/or emissions analyses relating to the work of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch; presenting analytical findings to EPA management and outside stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format that leverages different graphical presentations based on the data and findings; leading partner consultations to gather input from stakeholders (building owners/operators, policymakers, academics and others) regarding energy efficiency metrics, and synthesizing and evaluating feedback to make recommendations; evaluating trends in the market as well as those seen in the Portfolio Manager data to help EPA tailor its initiatives, improve cost-effectiveness, and drive market change; and writing concise descriptions of ENERGY STAR methods and metrics for technical reference documents and public “FAQs.”

Product Manager:  EPA’s ENERGY STAR Products Program is looking for a strong project manager to drive efficiency in products and overcome barriers to market uptake of efficient products. This role provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to develop technical specifications that increase the production and promotion of climate friendly technologies and to work with partners to move these efficient products into the market. This involves: developing and managing the implementation of specification development; understanding technologies and markets related to a particular product category; communicating with industry representatives, utility efficiency programs, and efficiency advocates to understand, refine, and accept these guidelines; recruiting manufacturing companies as partners in these programs; and educating buyers regarding the value of ENERGY STAR products.

State and Local Government Support Manager: EPA’s State & Local Branch is seeking a policy analyst to help state and local governments meet their environmental, public health, energy and economic goals through energy strategies including energy efficiency, renewable energy and other emerging technologies. This position will develop decision-support resources, including analytic tools, guidance documents, training and technical support for states and local governments at the forefront of reducing GHGs. We are seeking candidates who are solution-oriented, comfortable engaging with stakeholders, have strong quantitative skills, and are comfortable working with analytic tools.
