Summer Internship Opportunities- PhRMA

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America’s (PhRMA’s) is seeking internship candidates to support various department initiatives, activities and priorities. The Interns will assist broadly within the department in which they’re hired and work closely with multiple teams. This is a paid position.

The successful candidate will gain experience in a wide range of issues. Examples include health policy, Medicare, Medicaid, State and Federal issues, innovative medicines, the regulatory and legislative process, and working with and building coalitions in the U.S. and abroad.
 
The below list of intern responsibilities is by department:
 
State Advocacy:
·        Research and track legislative and political activity;
·        Participate in writing and editing talking points, policy papers, backgrounders, and other publications.
 
Policy and Research:
·        Conduct collection, analysis, and synthesis of literature and data related to the health care industry and health policy;
·        Participate in writing and editing of talking points, policy papers, backgrounders, presentations and other publications.
 
Science and Regulatory Advocacy:
·        Assist in research on U.S. and/or ex-U.S. scientific and regulatory policy issues and proposals;
·        Support the evaluation of science and regulatory policy proposals.
 
International Advocacy:
·        Create country fact sheets, newsletter blurbs, slide presentations, and other materials;
·        Monitor policy developments, conduct country and issue research, and manage data;
·        Attend meetings and events and produce reports;
·        Respond to member requests for information.
 
Public Affairs:
·        Support and learn from the digital/social/creative team through digital/social content creation process (development to execution);
·        Support and learn from the advocacy team as they approach legislative priorities and provide research and tactical support when developing materials to support PhRMA’s positions on such issues.
 
Federal Advocacy, and Advocacy and Strategic Alliances:
·        Attend and provide support for internal meetings, in terms of gathering and assembling information coordinate with staff to develop agendas, and ensure proper follow-up and output, including meeting summaries
·        Responding to requests for updates on department and external activities; by organizing deliverables for sponsorship activities, drafting weekly updates, reports, correspondence and slide decks.
·        Possibly database entry and hearing/briefing note taking.
 
 
 
Requirements
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in public policy, public health, political science, government affairs, legislative affairs, economics, or communications with an interest in health/life sciences policy and politics;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; 
  • Strong desire to build relationships/collaboration skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to strategically and creatively process information;
  • Curiosity to stay abreast of current industry trends;
  • Ability to manage and complete projects end to end in a timely manner
