The Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA (the Foundation) is a non-profit organization that works to support the mission of the FDA by advancing regulatory science and research. The Foundation establishes public-private partnerships between FDA and external stakeholders to facilitate innovation in science and health.

The Foundation is seeking a dynamic, self-starter to support the Innovation in Medical Evidence Development and Surveillance (IMEDS) program. The mission of IMEDS is to accelerate and improve real world evidence generation for the assessment of the risks/benefits of medical products. To achieve our mission, IMEDS creates and fosters multi-stakeholder public-private partnerships to evaluate safety and comparative effectiveness of medicines and devices. IMEDS partners include health systems, health plans, consumer advocates, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic organizations, NIH, and the FDA. Reporting to the Scientific Program Manager, the intern will support pharmacoepidemiologic and epidemiologic research studies. The ideal candidate will have a background in research methods and be a self-starter who is adept at working independently, dependable, thoughtful, curious, and courteous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to multi-task are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:
·        Conduct literature reviews, pull relevant articles and summarize information to enable investigators to identify and review relevant studies.
·        Assist in the organization and administration of scientific meetings and/or calls, including scheduling, venue identification and selection, creating agendas and taking minutes.
·        Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other governance documents for a research program.
·        Assist in developing and coordinating Institutional Review Board Submissions and Data Use Agreements
·        Assist in drafting and submitting reports and manuscripts for publication and presentation.

Qualifications:
•       Graduate student (masters or doctoral) in informatics, pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, health economics, or public health
·        Research experience in a health-related field
·        Familiarity with best practices in the conduct of research (e.g. CONSORT guidelines, human subjects)
•       Highly detail-oriented and deadline-driven, with superior organizational skills
•       Highly motivated to work independently, as well as in team settings
•       Must be reliable, creative, flexible and self-motivated
•       Ability to keep sensitive information confidential

Desired Skills and Competencies:
•       Research experience in public health
•       Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook) and relevant web-based applications (e.g., Eventbrite, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, Doodle)
