Program Coordinator, Quality and Safety

Overview

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Program Coordinator to support Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) for Women's Health program and Voluntary Review of Quality of Care (VRQC) reviews including: review scheduling; report development and editing; development of general program and site-specific materials.

Responsibilities

1. Manage SCOPE program activities including: application review; securing reviewers for SCOPE site visits; distributing pre-visit packets to reviewers; processing site visit reports and post-visit evaluations; supervising office certification designations; notifying offices of interim reporting requirements; maintaining an up-to-date directory of certified offices; and creating and maintaining a database of all interested office sites. Collect and process data from certified offices for ABOG Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits. Maintain SCOPE website; execute technical troubleshooting where possible; allow new users access to the online application and other online tools; respond to queries from interested Fellows about the certification process. Update and maintain program materials, including validation forms, reference manual, and training materials; evaluate program and advise staff regarding program improvements.
2. Support coordination of Voluntary Review of Quality of Care activities including receive and guide requests for site visits through contracting and preliminary data collection; assist with selection of review teams based on hospital needs and reviewer qualifications; provide reviewers with necessary information for proposed visit; schedule site visit; obtain appropriate deposit and final payment from hospital; communicate with department director, hospitals, VRQC program director, other College staff, and VRQC reviewers throughout site visit cycle; secure and review evaluations by hospitals and peer evaluations by reviewers; review preliminary data; inform team of pertinent issues. Update and maintain program materials, including validation forms, reference manual, and training materials; evaluate program and advise staff regarding program improvements.
3. Work to recruit new VRQC and SCOPE reviewers; coordinate process for credentialing potential new reviewers; plan and implement training sessions; monitor reviewer evaluations and initiate recredentialing per schedule or as appropriate.
4. Support projects of the Council on Patient Safety in Women's Health Care and the Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement and other activities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree is required
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Experience and excellent judgment in handling confidential material
  • Medical association experience is desirable
  • The position requires excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; editing skills; a proper balance of assertiveness, diplomacy, and discretion; good judgment; ability to interact with a variety of people and institutions; skills in managing multiple projects; self-direction; computer literacy
  • Knowledge of computer software such as MS Office and experience with various medical databases, such as Medline are essential. Knowledge of website management, particularly with Drupal, is desired
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with research, statistics, spreadsheets, and tables, and surveymonkey.com
  • Basic knowledge of accounting management, HTML/website management is required
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to work extended hours on planned meeting days (730am-830pm). The position requires occasional travel
