HJF is seeking a Biostatistician to support the Data Coordinating and Analysis Center (DCAC) for the Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) and the Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch (EIDB) of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). This position is located at the MHRP Office in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MHRP/EIDB. 
The incumbent’s responsibilities are to provide biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. This involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies.
Responsibilities:
  1. Recommends and advises on the design of biomedical research protocols.
  2. Provides statistical support via statistical consultation and data analyses throughout the courses of studies and prepares statistical reports for presentations and publications.
  3. Coordinates statistical analysis and protocol data between protocols by providing statistical consulting on an ad hoc basis.
  4. Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to research staff. Recommends and implements changes as needed.
  5. Works with research staff to achieve the goals of the research program.
  6. Supervises junior biostatisticians.
  7. Advises on big data warehouse regarding statistical software integration, data transformations, and analytical capabilities.
  8. Represents the organization at conferences, and other scientific and public meetings.
  9. Performs other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in the design of clinical trials; knowledge of medical science and research, ideally within the fields of HIV and EIDs;
proficiency in data analysis using statistical tools such as SAS, STATA, R, and GraphPad Prism; ability to communicate effectively; ability to make effective presentations and publish; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple efforts simultaneously; experience collaborating on large teams with members from diverse backgrounds; ability to translate high level statistical concepts to non-statistical audiences.
Minimum Education: Master’s degree in Biostatistics or related field.
Minimum Experience: 4 - 6 years experience; or PhD and 0-2 years of experience; experience in HIV and EIDs preferred.
Physical Capabilities: Extended periods of sitting.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Supervises junior biostatisticians.
Work Environment: Office environment.
