National Public Health Week Fellow (part-time)

The National Public Health Week fellowship is designed to provide experience in program management, including outreach and graphic design, through the 2020 celebration of NPHW. The fellow will work in Washington, D.C., to provide support to staff leading NPHW efforts, lead outreach efforts in the Billion Steps Challenge and participate in all aspects of planning and execution of the week’s events, both in-person and online.

Acts as the liaison between APHA staff, vendors and participants in the Billion Steps Challenge. Assist in developing promotional material for NPHW, including social media shareables, fact sheets and other tools. Lead web efforts to connect with NPHW partners and sponsors. Help plan for, promote, support and execute NPHW events both in Washington, D.C. and online. Evaluate success of programs, events and outreach after NPHW is over. This is a temporary grant funded position, not to exceed 6 months.

Recent graduate, master’s student or senior undergraduate studying public health, global health, communications or related field. Event planning experience required. Graphic design experience (Photoshop, InDesign, Canva or similar) preferred. Candidates must have strong communication skills and be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Familiarity with Associated Press style desired but not essential.

Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations.

Hours: 21 hours a week, part-time, Mon- Fri. (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
