Marketing and Communications Intern at the Intersection of Sports and Social Justice

The Ascendant Athlete (www.ascendantathlete.com), an advisory group that works with professional athletes to advance their impact on social justice issues, seeks a part-time communications intern. The communications intern will play a prominent role in supporting the group’s outreach and engagement on social media. This is an incredible opportunity to gain professional experience, to learn about the business of professional sports and advocacy, and to be a part of changing the landscape for how professional athletes achieve sustainable social impact. This is a remote, paid part-time position of 15 hours/week.
This position will include:
·      Compiling a database of industry contacts and influencers
·      Producing social media content
·      Conducting online research
·      Updating The Ascendant Athlete’s blog
·      Tracking the social media accounts of key influencers
·      Developing The Ascendant Athlete’s Instagram page

This is a remote position. The Communications Intern will work a regular schedule of at least three days a week and up to 15 hours a week. Salary is $15/hr. This position is ideal for an undergraduate or graduate college student in good standing working toward a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a similar field of study (recent graduates are welcome to apply).
 
This position requires the following:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Extraordinary attention to detail;
  • Proficiency with Twitter, Instagram, Word Press, Constant Contact, Excel, and Facebook;
  • A self-starting, can-do, team-oriented, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic attitude;
  • An interest in sports;
  • Enthusiasm for the company’s objective; and
  • Good judgement and discretion
